I got a chance to try the brand new Glengoyne 46 Year Old One of One bottled exclusively bottled for the Scotch Whisky Bar at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.

It's currently £1,000 per measure and the only place anyone in the world can try this whisky is in the bar.

Tamnavulin Distillery is closed to the public. But once a year during Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival they open the doors to the public so we can get a chance to see how they make their whisky.

I got a chance to head up and spend some time at the distillery and get an exclusive access all areas tour with Trevor Milne the Distillery Manager.

Tamnavulin whisky is one of the top selling single malts in the UK and across parts of Europe. So when I got the chance to get full access into the distillery I was really excited.

Linkwood is a bit of a mystery distillery for me. I’ve seen so many different releases from Indy Bottlers in so many different cask finishes, and at lots of different ages. And it’s always really really solid.

So why don’t we see more of it as a core product?

Diageo do have a Linkwood 12 on the Flora & Fauna series. But that’s it.

So if the liquid is so good, why don’t they sell more of it?

The spirit is so good, they keep the majority of it for blending. So versatile, robust and easy to work with, it’s worth more to blenders than the single malt market.
